Louisiana still ranked high in flu cases
Louisiana continues to rank high among other states with the highest rates of flu cases in the country.
Health officials have been seeing flu activity rise since late August.
The office of public health says reports from clinicians throughout Louisiana suggest only 25 percent of healthy adults in the state have gotten a flu shot this year.
During the 2018-2019 flu season, there were approximately 15,000 to 16,000 hospitalizations and nearly 1,600 deaths in Louisiana.
Here are a few tips from the Department of Health:
1. Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
2. If you feel sick, do not kiss babies, pregnant women, grandparents and others who may be at risk.
3. And try not to touch your eyes, nose and mouth.
