Machete-wielding robber cuts victim before stealing wallet in French Quarter

NEW ORLEANS, La. (WVUE) - A machete-wielding man sliced his victim’s hand open during a robbery in the French Quarter.

The attack happened on Friday at 2:25 a.m. in the 400 block of Dauphine St.

The victim and his girlfriend were approached by the wanted subject who allegedly demanded the victim’s wallet, New Orleans police said. The perpetrator was possession of a machete-style blade.

The victim attempted to run away but fell to the ground. During an altercation, the victim suffered deep lacerations to his left hand.

The victim gave the attacker his wallet. The man armed with the machete ran to the 900 block of St. Louis St. where he entered a black Lincoln SUV and headed towards North Rampart St.
