Beard, a former bookkeeper at the District Attorney's office, and now convicted felon, was arrested in 2016 after an investigation by Louisiana State Police found that she stole about $1.3 million.
Part of that stolen money came out of the criminal court fund, which is owned by the police jury. So in order to get that money back, the police jury filed a claim against the Employee Dishonest Policy issued by the Travelers Insurance Company.
That claim was supposed to be settled Monday, but was tabled due to the absence of Steve Crews, the jury's legal counsel.
There is no word yet on when that settlement will take place.
Also at the meeting, a resolution was passed to approve an industrial tax exemption for Proctor & Gamble in Pineville.
After representatives of the company gave a short address to the jury about the progress of the plant and its contribution to the community, the motion was passed without objection.
