MARKSVILLE, La. (APSO) - According to Avoyelles Parish Sheriff Doug Anderson, deputies went to serve an arrest warrant to a Marksville man on May 22 for contempt of court and domestic abuse battery by strangulation.
Deputies made contact with Javas Tyrell Tyler, 28, of Marksville. After a search warrant was obtained, deputies seized 32 grams of suspected heroin with an approximate street value of $5200. The suspected heroin was packaged in individual wrapping, indicative of illegal drug sales.
Tyler was arrested and booked into the A.P.S.O. DC #1 and charged with the warrant for domestic abuse battery by strangulation, possession of heroin with intent to distribute and two counts of cruelty to juveniles.
There were two children present at the time of the investigation, ages 1 and 5.
Tyler is currently a Tier 1 sex offender convicted of carnal knowledge of a juvenile in 2011. Tier 1 is required to register annually for 15 years. If convicted on a felony charge during this period, the 15-year registration begins anew.
Bond has not been set.
