There is another delay in a murder trial that was supposed to begin next week for a man accused of shooting someone at the Save More Store on Lee Street in Feb. 2017.

Eddie Ray Jackson, Jr. faces a second-degree murder and attempted armed robbery with a firearm charge. Jackson, Jr. is accused of killing James Melton in the parking lot of the business.

Jackson, Jr.'s co-defendant, Nicholas West, pleaded guilty to obstruction of justice last year in lieu of armed robbery. He was sentenced to 10 years in prison.

This week, the trial for Jackson, Jr. was delayed again, this time until April 13. There are several more motions in the case that have yet to be considered, including a motion to suppress statements Jackson, Jr. made. He's being represented by Allen Smith and Emily Ratner. The case is being prosecuted by Christopher Bowman and will be heard before Judge Greg Beard.
