NPD identifies wanted suspect in Short Seventh Street shooting

NATCHITOCHES, La. (KALB) - The Natchitoches Police Department is asking for the public's assistance in locating Jessie James Petite, Jr., who is wanted in connection with the double homicide on Short Seventh Street on Monday night.

Petite, Jr. is described as a 21-year-old black male, weighing 135 lbs and about 5'7" tall.

An arrest warrant has been issued for Petitie, Jr., who is charged with two counts of first degree murder and two counts of attempted first degree murder.

If you have seen Petite, Jr., please contact the Natchitoches Police Department at (318) 352-8101 or Detective William Connell at (318) 238-3911. Do not attempt to apprehend or detain this individual by yourself. Petite, Jr. is considered to be armed and dangerous. All information given shall remain confidential.

According to police, Larry Batiste, 41 and Hiram Phillips, Jr., 35, died at the scene in the 900 block of Short Seventh Street Monday night. A woman, whose name has not been released, was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
