The Avoyelles Parish Sheriff's Office confirmed the 49-year-old suspect’s suicide at a home in Hessmer early on Friday evening.

The situation all started with a welfare call to a home on the 200-block of Patrick Road in Point Place, just south of Natchitoches. When deputies got there, they found the deceased body of Vicky Sanders, 53.

Sanders was well known in the Natchitoches community as a hair stylist that owned and operated The Works Salon in Natchitoches.

NPSO put out a search alert for Medina as a person of interest. Their search led them to the home in Hessmer, where he took his own life. He was found with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
