NPSO identifies possible suspect that fled from vehicle following high speed chase

Natchitoches Parish Sheriff's Deputies have identified a suspect involved in Friday morning's 22-mile pursuit on I-49 that began south of Natchitoches and ended in a single-vehicle crash just south of Ajax, according to the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff's Office.

NPSO says the suspect is Adrian A. Cox Jr., 20.

Cox has ties to St. Tammany Parish and the Fort Worth, Texas area.

Deputies have learned and believe that Cox has been picked up by a female acquaintance and left the area.

Deputies have spoken with family members of Cox and asked that he turn himself into law enforcement.

Cox is wanted by the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff's Office on criminal warrants signed by a Tenth Judicial District Court Judge for speeding 115+/75, aggravated flight from an officer, resisting an officer, 2-counts of illegal possession of a firearm by a person convicted of a felony, illegal possession of stolen things valued over $5,000, criminal damage to property valued over $5,000 and several other traffic violations.

Cox has a prior criminal history in St. Tammany Parish and Texas.

NPSO searching for man that fled from vehicle following high speed chase

The Natchitoches Parish Sheriff's Office is involved in an investigation and search for an unidentified man that fled from a black Nissan Altima on Friday morning, just off I-49 near the Ajax exit.

NPSO deputies clocked the vehicle south of Natchitoches speeding at 115 mph in a 75 mph speed zone.

The driver refused to stop and led deputies on a 22-mile pursuit until he crashed the vehicle near Ajax and fled on foot.

Deputies have learned that the Nissan Altima with purple heart tags was stolen from Slidell. A weapon was in the vehicle at the time of the theft.

The suspect is identified as a black male with medium-length dreadlocks, wearing a black shirt or coat.

Desoto Parish Sheriff’s Deputies and Louisiana State Police are assisting with the search for the suspect. The Winn Parish Tracking Team is also responding to the area.

Authorities are searching in a wooded and swampy area with water at least chest-deep.

Residents in the Ajax and Powhatan areas along La. Hwy 487 and La. Hwy 485 should be on the alert for any suspicious activity in the area.
