The Apple Watch Series 4 has a feature called Electrocardiogram, or EKG, or ECG, which measures the activity of your heart. By detecting irregular heart conditions or abnormal heart rhythm, problems like atrial fibrillation can be detected early on.

Fortunately, Dr. Hawthorne with Christus St. Frances Cabrini Hospital specializes in a surgery that can reduce atrial fibrillation symptoms.

"I understand that the software has enabled this technology to have a 98% sensitivity and specificity for detecting atrial fibrillation which is quite phenomenal," Dr. Hawthorne expressed.

He also added that he is the only doctor in Central Louisiana that practices cryoablation pulmonary vein isolation which he thinks is the best treatment for atrial fibrillation.

Atrial fibrillation can affect anyone at any ages, here are a few symptoms:

•Palpitations, which are sensations of a racing, uncomfortable, irregular heartbeat or a flip-flopping in your chest
•Weakness
•Reduced ability to exercise
•Fatigue
•Lightheadedness
•Dizziness
•Confusion
•Shortness of breath
