RAPIDES PARISH, La. (RPSO) - In an effort to better serve the citizens of Rapides Parish, RPSO has upgraded the format of how the property tax notices are being sent.
For several years, many citizens have voiced their concern that the postcard method allowed anyone to see the assessment and how much tax was owed on their property. These new notices will be mailed in an envelope and on the outside of the envelope in red letters will be the message “IMPORTANT TAX DOCUMENTS ENCLOSED”.
In the envelope, the enclosed 8.5’’ X 11’’ notice will include the assessment and a perforated section to be detached and returned with payment, if you choose to pay by mail. A return envelope is also provided for your convenience.
Starting November 9, the tax notices will be mailed and payments may be made by mail or in person on the third floor of the Rapides Parish Courthouse, Tax Department. The online link on the RPSO website (www.rpso.org) “SUBMIT AN ONLINE TAX PAYMENT” will be active starting November 10.
There is a processing fee charged by the company (HAMER ENTERPRISES) for the online payment.
RPSO reassures the public that this is the NEW tax notice and they are legitimate.
