Oakdale man arrested for vehicle arson

Harley Dixon (Allen Parish Sheriff's Office)

ALLEN PARISH, La. (State Fire Marshal) - An Oakdale man has been arrested for setting fire to a truck in August 2018.

Harley Dixon, 25, was booked into the Allen Parish Jail on Tuesday, May 21, on one count each of arson with intent to defraud, theft and insurance fraud.

In the early morning hours of August 22, 2018, a 2018 Dodge pickup truck was located burned on Manuel Road in Oakdale.

The State Fire Marshal’s Office was contacted in March 2019 by an insurance company investigator who was suspicious about a claim filed with their agency relative to that burned truck owned by Dixon.

Investigators learned Dixon claimed his vehicle was stolen after accidentally leaving the keys inside. It was later found abandoned and burned in a rural area five miles from where Dixon said it was stolen from.

However, throughout the investigation, Dixon provided conflicting stories about his timeline the day the truck allegedly was stolen.

Through continued investigative efforts, deputies uncovered evidence placing Dixon near the location where the truck was found burned around the time it was burned. Warrants were then issued for Dixon’s arrest.

On May 22, 2019, Dixon was located and taken into custody.
In an interview with investigators, Dixon admitted he was going through financial hardships at the time of the vehicle fire, but again provided conflicting stories about his timeline the night of the fire.

He was then booked on the outstanding warrants.
