ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB) - Twenty-eight years ago, Olla Rae Chicola was a driving force behind opening the Manna House in Alexandria.
She provided the building on Lee Street, and continued serving in the ministry for many years. Chicola passed away on February 22 at 91 years old.
Her wake is Monday night from 5 p.m. - 8 p.m. with a vigil at 6:30. Funeral services are Tuesday with visitation beginning at 8 a.m., and a Mass at 10. The services take place at St. Francis Cabrini Church.
Chicola spent her life ministering to the hungry, touching the lives of many. Her community will always remember her for the positive impact she had on their lives.
Donations to the Manna House are being accepted in memory of Olla Rae Chicola.
