AVOYELLES, La. (KALB) - For the last 17 years, the Louisiana School for the Agricultural Sciences has held a petting zoo event that brings hundreds of students from all over Avoyelles Parish to come join them in their day of fun.

The school's Future Farmers of America (FFA) members began planning for the event at the beginning of the school year in order to make everything as organized and as fun as possible.

The students of Avoyelles Parish spent the day playing fun games, petting some pretty adorable animals, and eating.

FFA president, William Gaspard said this is one of the most important events LASAS has.

"The kids that we have today at our petting zoo, are our future, and in the future we need agriculturalist,” Gaspard explained. "By instilling that hands-on experience now they will be better equipped for the future to be our future farmers, doctors, lawyers, biologists, and chemist.”
