Pineville City Council to vote on "Public Safety" tax renewal
Pineville City Council will vote on Tuesday to put the renewal of an ad valorem tax that will fund public safety on the November ballot.
Weeks ago, city council voted 5-0 to hold a public hearing on July 9. The 10 mill renewal would raise nearly $1 million annually for services like fire and police. That includes employee salaries and equipment among other things.
If city council approves Tuesday's resolution, the tax will be on the November ballot for voters to decide. Pineville's City Council meeting starts at 6 p.m. at Pineville City Hall.
Mayor Clarence Fields told News Channel 5 weeks ago that the tax renewal is the bare minimum of what they city needs.
