A Pineville teenager is dead and three others are injured following a single-vehicle wreck in Grant Parish on Tuesday night.

Around 11 p.m., Matthew Molan, 18, was driving north on Bob Frazier Road when he lost control of the vehicle near Rock Hill Road and hit a tree.

Molan and his three passengers were not wearing seatbelts and were partially ejected from the vehicle upon impact. They were transported to a hospital for medical treatment.

One of the passengers, Jessie Andrew Richards, 18, initially sustained life-threatening injuries and was pronounced dead on Wednesday afternoon.

Routine toxicology tests and charges are pending.

Louisiana State Police would like to take this opportunity to remind/inform motorists that properly wearing your seat belt will dramatically reduce your chance of being injured or killed in a crash. We ask you to take one second to “buckle up!” Louisiana law requires that every person in a vehicle, regardless of seating position, always remain buckled up. Not wearing a seat belt remains the leading cause of death in motor vehicle crashes.

Troop E Troopers have investigated 44 fatal crashes in 2019, resulting in 48 fatalities.
