Police Jury approves SMG contract for Rapides Parish Coliseum, lays off 12 employees
The Rapides Parish Police Jury held a special meeting Friday afternoon to decide if SMG would take over management of the Rapides Parish Coliseum.
Greg Upton, the legal counsel that looked into the contract, said it fully complies with Louisiana law.
The Jury unanimously approved the contract, and in the process, dissolved the Coliseum Authority. This meant laying off 12 Coliseum employees.
"We are excited to get back to work," said Sam Voisin with SMG. "We commend the Authority...now it's time to pass the baton."
