TANGIPAHOA PARISH, La. (LSP) - A Ponchatoula woman is dead following a three-vehicle wreck that occurred on LA 445 near Champ Cooper Elementary School in Tangipahoa Parish.
Sometime before 2:00 p.m., Cameron Alex Crawford, 27, was traveling south on LA 445 when he drove into the northbound lane into the path of another driver, Martin J. Barras, 54, of Slidell. Barras swerved into the southbound lane to avoid the collision and crashed into Ruby Core, 71.
Core was transported to North Oaks Medical Center to be treated for her injuries, but succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead.
Crawford was transported to North Oaks Medical Center to be treated for his injuries. Once stabilized, he was transported to University Medical Center in New Orleans for further care. As part of the on-going investigation, blood was obtained. Upon his release from the hospital, Crawford will be transported to the Tangipahoa Parish Jail, where he will be booked for Driving Left of Center and Negligent Homicide.
Barras was uninjured in the crash.
All three drivers were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.
