Post-storm report: February 5 storm system

(KALB) - On Wednesday, February 5, 2020, a strong surface cold front passed through Central Louisiana on Wednesday into Wednesday night.

The KALB studio received 0.11 inches of rainfall, while Central Louisiana as a whole received anywhere from a trace to about 1.00 inch to 1.50+ inches or so, with a 100% rain coverage overall from this storm system.

Ahead and along with the front, there were scattered showers and thunderstorms, some of these thunderstorms turned severe as we had several warnings on Wednesday, February 5.

In total, there were 9 severe thunderstorm warnings across Central Louisiana and fortunately no tornado warnings.

Preliminary data, according to the SPC Storm Reports website, Central Louisiana had 0 tornado reports, 11 hail reports and 0 wind reports.

These hail reports were in the following parishes; Beauregard, Vernon, Rapides, Natchitoches and Winn. The hail size ranged from a quarter to golfball size.
