Rapides Parish Library welcomes new director
The Rapides Parish Library Board of Control announced the new director, Celise Reech-Harper, on Tuesday. Her tenure will begin on January 2, 2020.
Reech-Harper comes to Rapides Parish from the Beauregard Parish Library where she has served the community for eleven years as a youth programming coordinator and Associate Director of Public Services.
During that time, she has been an active member of the Public Library Association and the Louisiana Library Association; she currently serves as both the editor of the LLA professional journal and 2020 Conference Chair. In 2014, she was named Louisiana Public Librarian of the Year.
Reech-Harper is excited to visit all of the communities she will serve.
She believes that “libraries are hubs of possibility.”
When asked about the role of libraries, she stated, “We offer resources and support to facilitate life-improving differences and imagination-expanding entertainment. Libraries are opportunity-makers, dream-bearers. I intend to work with the wonderful staff and board of Rapides Parish Library to provide even more of these opportunities to the people of Rapides Parish.”
