PINEVILLE, La. (KALB) - Conservatives and republicans were in Pineville Saturday evening for the annual Central Louisiana Reagan Rally.
The event is put on by the Rapides Republican Parish Executive Committee.
Attendees were able to hear from local republican politicians, they were also treated with a meal and dessert.
Some of the officials in attendance included District 25 State Rep. Lance Harris and Dr. Mike Strain, Commissioner of the Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry. They both said they enjoy gathering with like minds at the rally every year.
"This is a great event, it's awesome to get out and be able to get with likeminded people, talk about politics, talk about the races that are upcoming,” Harris explained. “It’s exciting, it's fun, we'll be talking about some of the past four years and what we need and what we think needs to change to put Louisiana in the right direction."
"It is about having a good time here tonight and being with friends,” Mike Strain. “It's also about moving as a unified force in the upcoming elections which are now less than seven weeks away."
Scholarships were also awarded to three students.
