ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB) - A former Central Louisiana state representative has died.

Rick Farrar, who held the District 27 seat for Rapides Parish from 1992 to 1996 and then 2000 to 2008, died Tuesday morning at Ochsner Medical Center in New Orleans. He was 58.

Farrar had been working as an Assistant District Attorney under Phillip Terrell, whose office broke the news of Farrar’s passing on their Facebook Page. Farrar also practiced law for 26 years in Rapides Parish.

“Mr. Farrar was a valued member of the District Attorney’s Office and a true public servant,” the post said. “His absence will be deeply felt not only by the District Attorney’s Office, but also in the community. Please keep his family in your prayers.”
