Sen. John Kennedy responded to remarks he made about Speaker Nancy Pelosi, in which he said, "It must suck to be that dumb."

A reporter asked Kennedy if he meant "no disrespect" when making the comment.

"Sure I did," Kennedy replied. "Let me tell you why I said that in part what Speaker Pelosi has done here. And I think she's the prime principle behind this impeachment. I think she has got to be careful what you ask for. And I understand immediate gratification and understand animal spirits. And I understand that politics is not beanbag. But I think what she has started here is going to elevate partisan impeachment."
