(KALB) - Republican State Senator Neil Riser said he will run for Louisiana State Treasurer after current State Treasurer John Kennedy won the U.S. Senate runoff on Saturday.
Riser said he would run in a speech at the North Rapides Business and Industry Alliance meeting at Louisiana College in Pineville. The state senator said he would make a formal announcement after the beginning the year.
Riser serves in Dist. 32 that encompasses Caldwell, Catahoula, Concordia, Franklin, LaSalle, and West Feliciana parishes and parts of Avoyelles, Ouachita, Rapides, and Richland parishes.
Riser also ran for the U.S. House 5th Congressional District in 2013 but lost in the runoff to (R) Vance McAllister. Riser is a business owner who runs funeral homes.
