WOODWORTH, La. (KALB) - You may have noticed quite a few bicyclists making their way through Woodworth on Thursday.
Unfortunately, it wasn't the Tour de France, but depending on who you ask, it may be the next best thing. It was the Senior Olympics Cycling event.
Bike riders from all over the state, and even some in Mississippi and Texas, came down for the races. Those races included a 5K, 10K, and 20K.
Some of the rider included a woman in her 70s, and a man in his 90s. It's all about continuing to pursue your passion.
"It's wonderful, seeing people enthusiastic and have an opportunity for people 50 and over to participate,” expressed Juanita Vanderhoven, Louisiana Senior Olympics board member. “Especially people in their 90s or 80s, and you realize that exercise is the best thing that keeps people healthy. It's awesome."
This was the state qualifying for the National Senior Olympics coming up in 2019.
