Confidence is growing that widespread severe weather will hit central Louisiana Sunday afternoon through much of Sunday night. The Storm Prediction Center has placed parts of the area under a "high" risk, which is the top of the scale they use. The last "high risk" SPC issued for central Louisiana was April 11, 2005.

During a high risk situation, enhanced events such as significant (EF-2 and above) tornadoes, hail larger than golfballs, and thunderstorm winds may reach or exceed 75 mph.

Take this situation seriously. Check on the elderly and infirmed. Contact family, friends, and neighbors and tell them about the threat.
