ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB) - Identity theft happens more than you might think – there was a victim every two seconds in 2017. With that in mind, KALB is honored to team up with Security Mobile Shredding and WalMart each year to bring you Shredfest.
The KALB staff will be at the WalMart on 6225 Coliseum Blvd, Alexandria, LA 71303 from 9:00 – 5:00 p.m., Thursday, October 24, shredding your sensitive documents, free of charge. Our crews shredded more than 30 tons of tax records, medicine bottles and credit stated in one day at last year’s event.
To participate, please package your materials to be shredded in a cardboard box and bring them to the shredding site. Soft plastics like grocery bags cannot be shredded. Please limit your materials to four boxes, per vehicle. This event is designed to benefit individuals and families in our community, and as such, businesses and organizations are not allowed to participate. Traffic for the event will flow from the highway towards WalMart’s Garden Center, along a marked path.
“The entire staff of KALB-TV takes part in this worthwhile volunteer event,” said Michele Godard, Vice President and General Manager of KALB-TV. “It is always fun to see members of our community in person, and it’s a great time to focus on helping others stay safe from identity thieves.”
Security Mobile Shredding’s commitment echoes that statement. Each year, the company donates its time and equipment to protect Central Louisiana. “As a family business, we want to share our love and give back to the community,” said Sheree Gaspard, of Security Mobile Shredding.
We encourage all community members to come and participate in this year's free event.
