ALEXANDRIA, La. (APD) - The Alexandria Police Department is supporting the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’ “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign.
To combat impaired driving in our area, APD, along with the Louisiana State Police and Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office, will be conducting sobriety checkpoints this Friday, August 16, from 10:00 p.m. to 3:00 a.m., weather and traffic conditions permitting, in Rapides Parish.
The mission will be to intercept and incarcerate impaired drivers before they can cause injury or death to themselves, their passengers, or members of the public. Drivers are less likely to drive impaired when they recognize the increased probability of law enforcement action.
APD asks the public to make the mature decision and to designate a sober driver. Remember, “You drink, You drive, You lose!” Get more information on how you can get involved in the effort to stop drunk driving at http://one.nhtsa,gov/drivesober
