Deville teen killed in Hwy 28 East crash with 18-wheeler
A Deville teenager is dead following a crash involving a pickup truck and an 18-wheeler on Hwy 28 East, at Hwy 115.
On Tuesday morning, Alexis M. Doucet, 18, was traveling northbound on Hwy 115, attempting to turn left and head westbound on Hwy 28 East. As Doucet turned and entered the intersection, an eastbound 18-wheeler collided with her truck.
Doucet was wearing her seat belt, but was pronounced dead. The driver of the 18-wheeler was restrained and not injured.
Routine toxicology tests are pending.
Although the exact cause of the crash remains under investigation, Troopers would like to remind the public of the following: inattentive and distracted driving is dangerous and is a leading cause of crashes in our state. It is important for motorists to pay attention to what is going on outside of the vehicle they are driving.
