Student arrested after making threats targeting Baton Rouge high school
A 14-year-old student was arrested following reports of a possible gun threat targeting Lee High School in Baton Rouge.
The East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office said on Tuesday, Jan. 21 that the student, who attends the high school, is charged with terrorizing after the threats were made.
School officials and sheriff’s office deputies were investigating the threat circulating social media during the Martin Luther King Jr. Day holiday.
According to a spokesperson for the East Baton Rouge Parish School System, officials do not believe that the messages from the student were credible.
The principal of the school released the following statement Tuesday:
On Tuesday morning, there was an increased presence of police and security on campus out of an abundance of caution.
