ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB) - Around 3:30 on Sunday afternoon, Leandra McNeal turned himself in to detectives at the Alexandria Police Department. He was then booked into the Rapides Parish Detention Center and charged with attempted second degree murder.
McNeal, 19, was wanted in connection with a shooting that occurred at 6th Street and John Thomas Street on February 5. You’ll remember, a man was riding in a car near that intersection when someone fired multiple rounds into the vehicle.
One of the bullets struck the man inside of the car in the head. He was sent to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries. No word on his condition at this time.
"As always, I want to commend our detectives in the Crimes Against Persons Division for their hard work investigating this shooting," said Chief Jerrod King. "I also want to thank the tremendous support from the community, from people who have shared this information to those who have called in. We are lucky in Alexandria to have such a strong relationship with our residents and their support helps us do our jobs every day. We at the Alexandria Police Department will continue to strive to make these relationships even better."
The shooting is still under investigation. We will update this story when we know more.
