Taurnena Foster convicted on lesser charge of manslaughter in overdose case

ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB) - A Rapides Parish Jury has convicted Taurnena Foster, 24, of the lesser charge of manslaughter for allegedly distributing a fatal dose of carfentanil back in January 2018 to Jakelynn Ammons. 19.

Ammons was found dead in a car near a local hotel. Foster had been indicted for second-degree murder. This conviction carries up to 40 years in prison.

The Rapides Parish DA’s office told News Channel 5 that the drug was distributed under the assumption it was heroin.

Foster will be sentenced on March 25. She was represented by Glenn Cortello. Brian Mosley prosecuted for the state.
