LEESVILLE, La. (KALB) - Hundreds of residents in Leesville got an early start on their Thanksgiving meal.
Saturday morning, the Veterans Place partnered with several churches in the community at the Leesville First Assembly of God Church to pass out free meals.
Volunteers at the event said last year, the organization feed approximately 700 people, and this year, they're aiming higher. Volunteers at the event spoke about the feedback they received from the public.
"They love it," Patricia Gentry, a volunteer at the event said with excitement. "We are always there to meet the needs of the public and to meet the needs of the community."
"It means that no one will go hungry," Patricia Brown, another volunteer said. "[And] everyone will have a Thanksgiving meal."
