The Alexandria VA Center celebrates 90 years
The Alexandria VA Medical Center celebrated 90 years, Friday evening.
On Dec. 6, 1929, the Alexandria VA Medical Center opened its doors to the care for Louisiana veterans, and 90 years later they are still going strong.
"I want this to be the health care provider of choice for veterans in this community," Peter Dancy, the director of the Alexandria Veterans Affairs Health Care System said. "We got over 1,200 dedicated staff members to take care of them. I ask them to choose VA because it's a great place for veterans to receive care."
The Alexandria VA celebrated the milestone with an open house.
Staff members at the open house explained the history behind the center. They also provided everyone in attendance with refreshments.
