Three shot and killed in Alexandria on Christmas Day
#UPDATE APD has identified Wendell Reed, 58, as the shooter in the Madeline Street fatal shooting. Police believe the two shootings *could* be related, but can’t confirm yet. The two victims are women, according to police.
ORIGINAL STORY: Alexandria police are investigating three Christmas Day homicides in the city, happening seemingly withing moments of each other.
Police said one victim was found shot and killed at the corner of Third Street and St. James Street around 4:30 p.m. Shortly after, police received a call about a shooting in the 2300 block of Madeline Street where two more people were found dead.
Police believe the suspect may have been one of the two people found dead at the second location on Madeline Street, but it's too early now to say if they are linked.
"Right now we can't say that," said Cpl. Wade Bourgeois. "Because of the close proximity and time between the two incidents, we're obviously investigating possible links between them. But, as of right now we have a homicide scene here at Third and St. James and then a second scene in the 2300 block of Madeline where two people are deceased."
There is no word yet on the identity of the three people. This story will be updated.
