Tomi Ball, Peabody graduate and US veteran, laid to rest in Alexandria
One of Central Louisiana's military daughter's was brought back to Alexandria to be laid to rest this morning.
Tomi Ball was a Peabody High graduate, who served in the Air Force for 20 years, serving during the Vietnam and Gulf Wars.
She passed away in Fort Worth, Texas at the age of 70 earlier this month. She's survived by her three kids, and multiple grandchildren, as well as her mother.
Her service was held this morning at True Vine Missionary Baptist Church. There was even a flag ceremony and 21 gun salute afterwards.
Her family says even though Ms. Tomi was away from Central Louisiana for years, the amount of support they've received was overwhelming.
“You can see she's loved,” expressed Ellery Ball, Tomi’s son. “We haven't seen these people in 20 to 30 years, but they're coming out to really support her. She's a vet, and I was going to have her buried in the national cemetery in Texas, but it would've been nothing like this here. Bringing her back to Alexandria."
