Trial on track for one of three charged in Rapides neglect case
A trial is on schedule to begin next week for Glen Maricle, 57 of Elizabeth, one of three people charged in a neglect case that led to the death of 25-year-old Cyra Harrison.
Maricle, his wife, Marilyn, and Harrison's mother, Karen, are charged with second-degree murder, conspiracy to commit second-degree murder, cruelty to the infirmed, and cruelty to juveniles. Cyra Harrison suffered from cerebral palsy and was found dead in Nov. 2018 at a home on Leon Odom Road in the Plainview community.
A trial for Harrison was initially expected to move forward first in the case, but that has been continued until June 6, 2020, after Harrison's public defender, Andree Jacques, indicated she would push for a sanity commission. Instead, a trial for Glen Maricle will begin next week after both the prosecutor, Brian Cespiva, and the defense, Phillip Robinson, indicated to Judge Chris Hazel that they were ready.
According to Cespiva, no deals are being offered to the three in exchange for a change of plea.
