President Donald Trump took to Twitter on Tuesday evening to weigh in his thoughts on the Louisiana governor's race.

The president tweeted his endorsement of GOP candidates Congressman Ralph Abraham and Businessman Eddie Rispone over Democratic incumbent Gov. John Bel Edwards.

President Trump said, "REPUBLICANS of Louisiana, it is really important for you to go out and vote on October 12th for either Eddie Rispone or Ralph Abraham (both Great), which will lead to a runoff against a Nancy Pelosi/Chuck Schumer Democrat (John Bel Edwards), who does nothing but stymie all of the things we are doing to Make America Great Again. Don’t be fooled, John Bel Edwards will NEVER be for us. Early voting has already started! @LAGOP."

Congressman Abraham had this to say in response to the president's endorsement:

"President Trump’s message to Louisianians tonight shows his commitment to defeating John Bel Edwards this November. I was one of the first members of Congress to endorse the President, and I’ve been proud to stand with him every step of the way. He is my friend and I am his ally. I can’t wait to work with him as the next Governor of Louisiana to make Louisiana win.”

Rispone tweeted the president back, "Thank you, President Trump. I am proud to say that I have always stood with, President Trump. As your governor, we will do for Louisiana what Donald J. Trump has done for America! #LAGOV.”
