VPSO: Hicks man arrested on narcotics, firearm charges

VERNON PARISH, La. (VPSO) - A Hicks man was arrested following numerous complaints of suspected illegal narcotic activity, according to the Vernon Parish Sheriff's Office.

Authorities conducted a traffic stop on Jerome Thompson, 51, and located illegal narcotics and a firearm.

A search warrant was executed at Thompson's residence on Thompson Road. During the course of their search, VPSO located meth, marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and firearms.

Thompson was arrested and charged with one count of possession of a schedule II narcotic (meth) with the intent to distribute, one count of possession of marijuana, one count of possession of drug paraphernalia, one count of open container, one count of turning movements and required signals, one count of possession of a schedule II narcotic (meth), one count of possession of a schedule I narcotic (marijuana) with the intent to distribute, one count of illegal possession of a firearm while in possession of a controlled dangerous substance, and three counts of possession of a firearm or carrying of a concealed weapon.

Bond has not been set and Thompson remains in the VPSO jail.

The investigation is still ongoing.
