Long Walker Distillery was the dream of William. Kristen said he picked up an interest for it from traveling in the military. Kristen is originally from Texas, William is from Indiana. Stationed at Fort Polk three years ago, the couple now calls Leesville their home. Williams will be retiring soon.

Long Walker distills whiskey, a potato vodka, lemon and orange cello on site. They can be tasted on their own or in their signature mixed drinks. Kristen describes their business as a lounge or 'a Starbucks but with alcohol.'

"We don't have pool tables, we don't have dart boards. We're a lounge, we're a tasting lounge. This is a place where you have very low key music. You can come in here and feel like you're still at home having a drink on the chair. that's what we're going more for. We're a more relaxed, calm environment."

Long Walker Distillery is holding a grand opening Saturday from noon until eleven with food trucks and live music. It's something the Rowells hope to have regularly. They're also planning to start distillery tours this fall.

Their hours are from noon to 11 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday.
