(NBC News) - "Vice", a biopic focusing on the life of former Vice President Dick Cheney, leads this year's Golden Globe nominations. "Vice" picked up nominations for Best Comedy or Musical, along with bids for Christian Bale as Best Actor, and Amy Adams and Sam Rockwell in the supporting categories.

The stars also aligned for "A Star is Born". The film picked up five Golden Globe nominations, including Best Drama. Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper both earned acting bids, while Cooper added one as Best Director.
The superhero hit "Black Panther" is among the other Best Picture nominees, along with Queen celebration "Bohemian Rhapsody", Spike Lee's real-life saga "BlackKKKlansman" and the 70s love story, "If Beale Street Could Talk".
Lady Gaga's Best Actress competition includes Glenn Close for "The Wife," Nicole Kidman for "Destroyer," Melissa McCarthy for "Can You Ever Forgive Me?," and Rosamund Pike for "A Private War".
Rami Malek is among the Best Actor contenders for his turn as Freddie Mercury in "Bohemian Rhapsody", along with Willem Dafoe for "At Eternity's Gate", Lucas Hedges for "Boy Erased" and John David Washington for "BlackKKKlansman".
Box office hit "Crazy Rich Asians" is also in the Best Comedy or Musical chase, along with the 60s road trip "Green Book" and the soon to be released "Mary Poppins Returns."
