NATCHITOCHES PARISH, La. (NPSO) - UPDATE: Randall Perot was captured at 3:12 p.m. after escaping a work detail several hours earlier.
Louisiana State Police Air Support spotted Perot during an aerial and ground search of the area by multiple law enforcement officers.
Perot is being transported to the Natchitoches Parish Detention Center to face additional charges.
Natchitoches Parish Sheriff's Deputies, Natchitoches Parish Sheriff's Corrections Division, and Louisiana State Police are currently searching for an escaped work crew inmate on La. Hwy 117 near the Kisatchie Work Center, north of Kisatchie.
Law enforcement authorities are actively searching for Randall Lee Perot, 27, described as a white male, 5 ft. 3 in., weighing 115 lbs. with long brown hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing denim jeans and a blue shirt.
No beard at this time, although he may have some facial hair.
At approximately 10:30 a.m. Wednesday morning, Perot was working on a supervised work crew in the Kisatchie area when he apparently left the work site, stealing a US Forest vehicle, then crashing it a short distance away.
Perot then fled into a nearby wooded area.
Natchitoches Parish Sheriff's Deputies, Corrections Division Officers, Louisiana State Police, Winn Parish K-9 Tracking Team, US Forest Service Law Enforcement Agents are currently searching the area.
Louisiana State Police Air Support is en route to assist with an aerial search.
Perot was serving DOC time until 2025 for illegal possession of things and illegal possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Perot previously lived in and has ties to the Campti area.
