What's in a moon's name?

CNN VAN - The first full moon of 2018 will take place on New Year's Day. A supermoon occurs when the moon becomes full on the same day that it reaches its perigee, the point in the moon's elliptical orbit when it's closest to Earth.

Another supermoon will take place on January 31, and according to NASA, it will also feature a total lunar eclipse.

Black, blue, harvest and supermoon; CNN's Jennifer Gray explains what full and new moons' names mean.
