Back in March, the spring festival "River Fete" had a name change to the "Red River Festival." That drew plenty of criticism from the Cenla community and left people wondering about the future name of “Winter Fete.”
On Tuesday night, the council voted to keep "Winter Fete" the same as it has been the last four years.
The 2019 festival will include an ice skating rink, food trucks and other family-friendly activities.
Although the motion was passed unanimously, District 2 city councilman Gerber Porter said he would like to see something completely different in the City of Alexandria.
"We were not looking to make changes with this upcoming festival, it's already on its path but my position here today is: I feel we need to turn the page on this and we need to look forward, wipe the slate clean. Let’s start over and look for something bigger and better," he said.
The festival will be held this December and is free to the public.
