Students from John Folse Culinary Institute in Thibodaux spent the day at Panorama Foods. They were cooking up a big meal for the Avoyelles Arts Council's Annual Culinary Arts Event.

It's a dinner held at one of the patron's homes that includes guest chefs. All the money raised at the event goes towards art programs in and out of schools in the parish.

Coordinators said it's a good opportunity for both the council and the young chefs.

"This expands so much of how art infuses what we do and see and eat,” said Van Roy, Marksville Chamber of Commerce President. “So we thought it was a wonderful way to acknowledge the culinary arts. And of course having students that are actively involved and on the journey is an awesome component to this event."

The dinner was held at the home of Justice Jeanette Knoll.
