ALEXANDRIA, La. (CLTCC) - Central Louisiana Technical Community College (CLTCC), along with other National Coalition of Certification Centers (NC3) schools, will host National CTE Letter of Intent Signing Day at 9 a.m. Thursday, February 20, in the multipurpose room at the Downtown Alexandria main campus, located at 516 Murray Street.
The event, which began in 2014 at Washburn University Institute of Technology, is designed to recognize graduating high school seniors. The students will sign Letters of Intent indicating their commitment to attend CLTCC to participate in Manufacturing or Welding-related fields of study.
“Choosing a college to further your education and develop your job skills is a huge decision, whether you are an athlete looking to improve your skills to compete as a professional in the big leagues or if you are an academic student looking to enhance your skills and learn a technical trade. Either way, we’re talking about making a life-altering decision,” said CLTCC Chancellor James Sawtelle. “We believe students choosing to enter a technical field such as Manufacturing or Welding deserve just as much celebration and recognition as a 5-star athlete. We are just as thrilled to have these students joining ‘Bobcat Nation’ as would be any recruit at a college athletic program.”
“Substantial growth and advancement within CLTCC manufacturing and welding programs afford students the best starting point for their journey to high-wage, high-demand careers. We are honored to recognize these students as future Bobcats and as our future workforce,” added Misty Slayter, Vice Chancellor of Workforce and signing day coordinator.
