A Legendary Work Ethic
"I want to be that player that had a legendary work ethic.”
Senior Jammerian Texada is a leader for the Bunkie Panthers. In his four years, he’s established himself as a harder worker.
"The kid is talented,” Head Coach Paul Newton said. “He’s got some ability, and I'd like to be able to work with him for another year if I could.”
He may not have another year of high school ball but he’s definitely made a name for himself.
“I’m a laid back versatile player,” Texada said. “I'm going to add an aspect to every part of the game, but my favorite part is defense even though a lot of people like me for my offense.”
“He, along with the other four seniors, have done a good job at leading us,” Coach Newton said.
It’s easy for Jammerian to lead because he’s the fourth oldest of five kids, and he says that he just wants to pave the way for his siblings.
"I have a little brother that wants to be a basketball player,” Texada said. “He should be better than me because he's left-handed, but I like to put on a show for him and show him how it's done.”
Coach Newton has only been with him for a season, but he believes that Jammerian will walk away with more than just basketball.
"There's more to life than just that, but obviously, I hope I can help him reach the next level,” Newton said. “I'm big on them understanding that it's more than just that.”
For his leadership and work ethic, he’s this week’s ACA Athlete of the Week.
