ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB) - Melvion Flanagan is another warhorse in the Peabody legacy, and he's thankful to be a part of it.
"This team has all types of stars," Flanagan said. "I'm just blessed to be in this position right now."
Melvion is a walking bucket.
It's something that head coach Charles Smith saw in him back in his middle school days.
"He just has a leadership capability about himself," Smith said. "He didn't mind putting the team on his shoulders and when he came here as a freshman, he was outstanding This year, he's really stepped up, been a team leader, and an outstanding scorer."
In the last few weeks, Melvion has finished with 26, 30, and of course the 40 point finish against North Central. For him, being honored for his game is what keeps him going.
"It means a lot," Flanagan said. "I've never been an Athlete of the Week before and in my senior year, I'm out here producing like this for myself and my team."
For being a walking bucket, Melvion Flanagan is this week's ACA Athlete of the Week.
