BUCKEYE, La. (KALB) - Gracelyn Adams is the perfect example of a leader. When she talks, her teammates listen.
"I mean I'm definitely an outspoken leader," Adams said. "I like to tell them things, and they listen."
Even though she's the first person you hear at a Buckeye basketball game, she's also a team player.
"They're the main reason why I am where I am today because, without them, I wouldn't be here," Adams said.
"She is the perfect example of a leader," head girls’ basketball coach Garrett Hoffpauir said. "She shows up, and you never have to worry about what she's doing because it's always 100%."
Last week in the Marksville Tournament, Gracelyn scored 20 points, grabbed 12 rebounds, and poked away 7 steals. Like always, she gave all the props to the team.
"I feel like whenever one person is on a roll, we start like all collectively getting together and getting on the right track."
"She really went hard at it, and that's what set the tone for everybody else,” Hoffpauir said. “That's Gracelyn Adams. She does that every night for us."
Gracelyn feels that the bond between her and her coach is a driving piece in her success.
"She's extremely special," Hoffpauir said. "You never have to come in and give her a speech. She just comes and works."
"If we're having a bad day he'll come and talk to us, and lets us know he's there for us," Adams said. "Whenever I'm having a bad day, he just makes sure that I know that I'm wanted here."
For her baller performance game against Bunkie, she's this week's ACA Athlete of the Week.
