ACA Athlete of the Week finalists from Grant, Menard, & Rapides
This week’s ACA Athlete of the Week finalists feature players who shined during the Hixson Auto Invitational last week.
First up, Grant’s Deshawn Fisher. He dropped 26 points in Grant’s 59 to 46 win over Calvin.
“It all started in the second half,” Fisher said. “They were scrambling and it wasn’t working right and then we came out in the second half and we started shooting the gaps. They were sitting back in a two-three and the coach said to attack. It came from there, and I kicked the ball out. Assist came with it too."
Next, we have Menard’s David Brevelle. He scored 20 points as the Eagles would close out the tournament against Jena with a 62 to 54 win.
"Every game I just try to come out and lead my team, being aggressive,” Brevelle said. “Coach says all the time that someone has to be a leader out there and that’s something I try to be. It’s just something that I have in my bag. I’m usually a player drives to the rim but I can knock down the three very efficiently.”
Finally, Ky'Juwon Jones from Rapides. Their boys’ basketball team started off zero and three, but he led their team to the next five wins, finishing with 33 points against Atlanta.
“I have a saying on the court: ‘too easy’…because that's what kind of zone I'm in,” Jones said. “This just lets me know that my hard work is paying off and showing that I can be successful."
