Athlete of the Week: ASH Track and Field
This week’s ACA Athletes of the Week dominated at the 5A State track meet, capturing three state titles in the process.
For the ASH girls, their 4x100 team captured a title. The team, comprised of Brandi Goldman, Ce’nequal Sewell, Kiara Price, and Coriana Page, won the title with a time of 47.53
The 4x200 team brought home a title, as well, beating the nearest competitor by nearly two seconds. The team, made up of Kiara Price, Erieal Perry, Ce’nequal Sewell, and Coriana Page, notched a 1.39.62 in the event. And then, competing on her own, Ce'nequal Sewell won third in the 200-meter dash, running a 24.9.
The boys came in third in the 4x100 with a time of 42.23. Branton Turner, Brandon Quinney, Jadarius Clark, and Keonte Gaines participated in the event. Their 4x200 team, made up of Keonte Gains, Brandon Quinney, Jadarius Clark, and Juan Stafford, also came in third with a time of 1.27.12. Jacobian Guillory captured his second straight shot-put title with a throw of 55 feet and 5 inches, while Aaron Ealy placed second.
Head Coach Sedarrin Freeman holds a special place in his heart for this group of seniors and believes they’ve helped turn the tide for ASH track and field.
“This group, this was my first group. They were freshman when I got here. To see them put in the work and get ASH back at the top. I think we’ve done that,” said Freeman.
